AI Visibility Check, the short, honest version

This is the privacy policy for the AI Visibility Check (GEO Snapshot) Chrome extension by Cut the Waffle.

Last updated: 23 July 2026

The whole thing in one line: the extension reads the page you're looking at, works it out inside your browser, shows you a scorecard, and sends nothing anywhere. No accounts, no tracking, no data leaves your machine.

What the extension does

When you click the extension icon, it looks at the page you're currently on and grades it for AI and search visibility. Things like your title tag, structured data, heading structure, answer passages, author signals, and whether your robots.txt lets AI crawlers in.

It only runs when you click it, and it only ever looks at the tab you're actively viewing.

What data it reads

  • The content and HTML of the page in the active tab: title, meta tags, headings, text, links, images and any structured data.
  • A few files from that same website, fetched in the background: /robots.txt, /sitemap.xml and /llms.txt.
  • The page's own raw HTML, re-fetched from its URL, so it can check whether your content is visible without JavaScript.

All of these come from the same website you're already on. It reads them to calculate your scores, and then it's gone the moment you close the popup.

What it does NOT do

  • No data is sent anywhere. There is no server, no backend, no API. All analysis happens locally in your browser.
  • No storage. Nothing about the pages you check is saved to disk, to the cloud, or to your browser storage.
  • No tracking or analytics. We don't record which sites you visit, we don't use cookies, and we don't build any profile of you.
  • No personal information is collected. The extension doesn't ask for your name, email, or anything else to work.
  • Nothing is sold or shared. There's no data to sell.

Permissions, and why

Chrome asks the extension to declare what it can touch. It uses the minimum needed:

  • activeTab: so it can look at the page you're on when you click the icon, and nothing else.
  • scripting: so it can run the checks against that page inside your browser.

It deliberately does not request broad access to "all your websites" or your browsing history.

The export file

If you use the "Export results for your AI" button, the extension builds a text file on your device and downloads it through your browser. That file is created locally and is never uploaded anywhere. What you then do with it, for example pasting it into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, is your call and covered by that tool's own privacy terms.

Links out

The scorecard includes links to cutthewaffle.nz. If you click one, you'll visit our website in the normal way, under our standard website privacy policy. Clicking is entirely up to you.

Changes to this policy

If the extension ever changes what it does with data, this page will be updated and the "last updated" date above will change. If we ever add anything that collects data, we'll ask you first.
